The Clovers Project matches up student, emerging, and established writers in three-person mentoring groups (Clovers) with the goal of fostering meaningful conversations about what it means to be a writer today.

By the time I started college, I knew I wanted to be a writer. I thought I knew what that meant, but it turns out I was mostly wrong. I graduated from college fifteen years ago, and looking back, there’s a lot of things I wish I knew.

There are also many things I still have to left to learn. While I have a number of friends who struggle in the same ways that I do, I don’t know many people whom I can ask questions about how to shape the next stage of my career.

The Clovers was born out of my desire to share what I’ve learned with a student who is just starting on the path to becoming a writer, and to have someone a few steps ahead of me to whom I can go with my own questions. The Clovers is not a workshop group. The goal of the project is to recruit writers in three different stages of their writing careers, match them up, and allow them to engage in discussions about writing that will hopefully benefit them for years to come.
